F.A.Q.

When is check-in and check-out?
From 4pm and by 10.30am. An earlier check-in can sometimes be arranged – please contact us in advance and we’ll do our best (though we can’t promise, unfortunately).

Are you child friendly?
Absolutely – Dunsdon is a great place for children to learn about nature. The barn has a collection of children’s games, books and videos for rainy days, and for our very youngest visitors, a cot and highchair are available – please ask when booking.

Can I bring my dog?
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome (additional £20 charge for 2nd pet). The guest garden is as dog-proof as we can make it, although canine escape artists have sometimes put this to the test! Dogs are free to run off the lead in our woodland but please keep them on their leads in the meadows, especially in spring and summer, to avoid disturbing ground-nesting birds.

Is on-site parking available?
We have plenty of space for cars and camper vans in the farmyard.

Can I charge my electric vehicle?
We have a 7kW EV charging point, suitable for a standard Type 2 connector, which is free to use overnight (after 7pm).

Where is the nearest pub?
The Bradworthy Inn is about 5 miles from us. It’s a traditional Devon pub, popular with locals and holidaymakers. It’s also very dog-friendly!

Where is the nearest supermarket and will they deliver?
Waitrose in Holsworthy will deliver to Hoppers Barn, as will most of the big supermarkets. But we hope you will also want to shop small and locally. See our online visitor guide for more information.

What will I find on arrival?
Our welcome basket includes sourdough bread, eggs, butter, milk, tea, coffee and other selected local produce. We supply bath and hand towels, along with soap, shower gel and shampoo.

Are all costs included in the booking price?
Heating and electricity are included. We supply a starter pack for the woodburner, which should last a couple of days in cold weather. Additional wood and kindling is available at £10 per basket.

What essentials should I bring?
North Devon can have several seasons in a day – best to be prepared with waterproof clothing and footwear. The South West Coast Path is steep and rugged in places; walking boots are essential and you’ll find walking poles helpful if you’re planning more than a brief walk. We also recommend asking your chemist for neem oil or similar natural insect repellent; this is a wildlife-rich area, and that includes buglife!

Do you accommodate stag or hen parties?
Sorry, no. The only hens here are our rescue chickens, and the only stags are the local roe and red deer.

Why don’t you have hot tubs?
While newer hot tubs can be more eco-friendly than older models, they still use a lot of water and energy, and require chemicals to keep them clean, which are released into the environment when the tub is emptied (a legal requirement after each guest stay in a holiday let). So we’d rather you just had a nice soak in the bath.

We will send you a link with more information about Hoppers Barn, the accommodation and the surrounding area after you book. This info is also available on the guest tablet in the barn.
